I've known Travis pastrana for a few years now and nothing surprises me when it comes to him. He's wide open all the time and like you see on tv, he's always looking for something to do that would be considered nuts by most people. Please keep my friend in your prayers as he attempts this world record rally car jump on New Years eve! He will be coming in at 100 miles per hour in his Subaru rally car and launching off a ramp positioned on a pier in Long Beach, CA. He will then hopefully fly over 200 feet out to a floating barge (the current record is 171 ft) and land safely in the record books. If not he's going for a swim! Good luck buddy!

I met Matt Gilman a while back at a trials competition in Baltimore. He was walking through the sections memorizing the terrain. I took a second look and thought, "that guy is blind!" Matt wasn't always blind so he did have some bike skills before the diabetes claimed most of his vision. He rides better that a lot of people that have healthy eyes. Check him out for yourself.

We came across this post from Hektik77 on Proride.com this morning. Our condolences go out to the Cinqmars family.
Just got word that Mike passed away last night…Due to respect for the family I am not going to get into the cause of death right now…Mike had fallen on hard times in recent years and really fell out of the spotlight and due to severe back injuries did not ride anymore…
Very sad day today… …We lost another pioneer of freestyle motocross…and an all around good dude…prayers sent out to the family…
Mike…you will be missed…RIP

I will never forget this hunt and I'm sure my friend Aaron wont either. It was a hot November in during gun season. Not a lot of deer activity anywhere. I called up my cousin in Howard County and asked if we could walk around his Black Angus farm for a few hours in the afternoon. Aaron and I got there and decided to sit in separate locations for the afternoon and see what happened. I was getting ready to sit down next to some hay bales and take a nap when some kids came down the access road on bikes towards me. I started to tell them to go back to their property and that it was dangerous out here when I started seeing deer everywhere. They were running towards us in every direction and then the shots started flying. Poachers (at least ten) were doing a deer drive uncrossed the field and were shooting towards us. I told the kids to get down behind me and that's when I saw this big buck. When the smoke cleared we were all alive and Aaron and I had three deer. Aaron got a half rack buck and I got this main frame eight and a doe. The poachers had broken the big bucks leg and shot it through the nose with a 22. My Mauser 8mm dropped him though and they did not dispute it. It was kind of scary being surrounded by guys with guns who were all shooting at the same buck and me saying, "Hey, I killed him!" Then we had a neighbor come down cause he heard the small scale war that was going on and he was not happy. Aaron and I got our deer and got out before the game warden got there. Definitely the craziest hunt ever. Thanks poachers!

This is the time of year when I transform from athlete to whitetail deer obsessed, camouflaged, redneck hunter. It starts in mid September when Maryland's archery season begins and starts to take control of me at the end of October and beginning of November when the rut (deer mating season) starts to get under way. This when you will find me hanging from a tree for sometimes full 12 hour days waiting for that monster buck to show up.

Without a doubt the sickest person on a mountain bike I have ever seen! Danny Macaskill has been around for a while but when he released this video on the web this summer he became a superstar. The other night, our friend Roy's aunt and uncle lost their house in a fire. His cousin and her family lived with them. The furnace caught on fire and quickly spread through out the entire house. They lost EVERYTHING including the family dog. There was nothing left to salvage.

If anyone has any old clothes that they were planning on getting rid of please pass them my way so I can give them to the family. I know they would be extremely greatful!

This is a letter I wrote to the editor of The Artbutus Times years ago. Back when they revamped Lansdown Skate Park and kicked out the bike riders due to an unsupervised child who got hurt and a bunch of misinformed suits.

Changes, and more rules, unwelcome at skatepark
The article in last week's Times about the Lansdowne skate bowl starts off by saying that skaters and skateboarders are already seeing changes at the bowl.

What about the bikers that have been using this facility responsibly for over two decades ? The fence was installed to enhance safety at the bowl? That's bull!

Skateboarding and biking is inherently dangerous, and anyone who participates in these sports should already know this. The person who got hurt recently on his bike ... should have been supervised by his parents, or not allowed to ride.

Bryan Sheppard of Councilman Sam Moxley's office, says that bikes are an inappropriate use of the facility, which is also bull!

There are no rules in the world of extreme sports but he wouldn't know this because he is not a skater or a biker. Bikers and skaters have shared the bowl for two decades without incident and will continue to if the state leaves them alone.

The article mentions a new opening time of 3 p.m. once school starts, but most of the people who use the facility are adults and go there during the day.

Leave our park alone, leave us alone, and go back to your cushy office space were you belong.

Key West Road Trip

These are pics from our Florida road trip to Key West. We were filming for The Death Trilogy but we didn't do as much ridding as we had planned, unless you count scooters. We had a truck and 17 foot trailer full of toys and five guys packed in there. Scotty, Pogi, Death, myself and Joe Hiddleson. I don't know how we didn't kill each other or why they didn't kill me but we made it the whole ten days without any major problems.(I think) I think we were lucky to get out of Key Largo without going to jail. T. Katalano and JR meeting up with us in Key West was probably not a good idea either. Kinda like pouring gasoline on an already blazing fire. Thanks for the good times guys!

Man, these photo's really took me back to all the camping we used to do at the events. Randy was always there even if nobody showed up I could always count on his smile when I got there along with his wife Sandy. I was very sad to hear of the passing of Randy's wife Sandy a few years back. They were the force behind the NEPS trials series for many years and traveled long hours for no money to set up the competitions that we attended. Thanks for the memories Randy and Sandy, I miss you both.
